The Ministry of Drs. Tony and Lois Evans

CELEBRATE 30!
Dr. Tony Evans, senior pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship, celebrates 30 years of dedicated teaching, preaching and serving the Dallas community. He along with his wife, Lois, started Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in 1976 with ten people in their home. His 30 years of vision and leadership have produced a 7,500-member church; a state-of-the art Christian private school serving 600 students; a social outreach program that reaches 6,000 people annually and is now a national model; and a national ministry that includes radio, television and two major conferences.
This past year, Dr. Evans launched an initiative that’s creating a movement among urban and suburban churches and has the attention of The White House and the Southern Baptist Convention. The National Church Adopt-A-School Initiative, through The Urban Alternative, calls for urban and suburban churches to partner in adopting urban public schools and using them as the primary vehicle for social change in communities — helping not only the students but their families as well. The benefits are staggering, not only to public schools but to racial reconciliation as black and white churches work together.
The Church Adopt-A-School initiative is based on the Dallas-area Project Turn•Around program, which is the social outreach arm of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship. Today, more than 65 area public schools participate in the program that provides mentoring, tutoring and family support services to urban youth and their families. President Bush has endorsed this program as “a beacon for Dallas … a model for the nation.”
Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship is truly grateful to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for giving us devoted, gifted and loving leaders in Drs. Tony and Lois Evans. As a church family, we look forward to 30 more years of them preaching and teaching the uncompromised Word of God.
